Background
Professional experience includes editor at U.S. Army Newspapers and reporter for United Press International. Administrative experience includes chair of department of journalism at the University of Alabama and head of department of journalism at Texas A&M University. Research interests include alliances between media outlets and schools and departments of journalism and mass communication.

Magdalena Igiel, Doctoral Assistant
Originally from Poland by way of Germany, Magdalena is a doctoral candidate in the university’s Department of Communication. Her current research focuses on nationalism, identity, and collective/cultural memory. She also currently teaches and assists with communication courses in the Department of Communication and has previously been a research assistant for the OU Center for Risk and Crisis Management.
Ivy Shen, Graduate Assistant
Ivy is originally from Shanghai, China. She has a bachelor degree in television broadcasting journalism from Shanghai University. She is currently working on her MA in journalism. Her research interests focus on mass media management and communication technology.
Zach Williams, Graduate Assistant
Originally from New Orleans, Zach grew up in Broken Arrow, outside of Tulsa, OK. Zach graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor’s in Journalism in 2008 and is currently working towards a Master’s degree in Professional Writing. He plans on teaching and working as a freelance-writer upon graduating.
Kevin Wolfe, Graduate Assistant
Kevin Wolfe is a graduate student from Edmond, OK with a primary focus in public relations. Before returning to academia, Kevin worked in the theatre and housing industries. His academic and professional interests include non-profits, the arts, design, and social media.
